Although the PlayStation 5 is enjoying record-breaking sales numbers, Xbox Game Pass continues to overshadow Sony's subscription service. It allowed new members to try out Xbox Game Pass for a month for just a buck, before renewing at the standard monthly subscription of 14.99 a month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or 9.99.

The $1 deal was a huge missed opportunity that, if done better, could have benefited Sony in the ongoing console wars.

If Sony made the deal worldwide while extending it long enough to gain traction, it may have convinced more people to give its service a try.ĭespite PlayStation Now's benefits, it not on par with Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass. Running such a limited promotion (both in terms of length and availability) isn't the best way to expand PlayStation Now's user base.

Sony announced the deal this past Friday and only gave players a single weekend to take advantage of its rewards - which was also limited to North America.
